Marbled clay jewelry dish

Hello…As they always say, diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Today we’re going to do a DIY decor project that provides a home to your jewelry. Handmade ring dishes out of clay. Here is an easy and cheap way to make them.

coupelles-1

These are the supplies needed to make our marbled ring dishes:

  • Oven bake clay in different colors
  • Molds  ( or oven bowls )
  • Rolling pin
  • Solid knife( or plastic clay knife  )
  • Scissors
  • Varnish ( or paint & a brush )

coupelles-2

I chose these colors : black, white, pink, grey and green glitter.

coupelles-3

So….We start by cutting the desired quantity of clay ( Be careful with the dark colors, do not take too much )

coupelles-4

Make rolls of 14 cm of each color ( one or more as you like )

coupelles-5

Twist the rolls together.

coupelles-6

Make a sausage with the twisted rolls, it helps our colors mix and prepares our marble look.

coupelles-7

Then we create a ball with the clay.

coupelles-8

Flatten the ball with the rolling pin which will define our drawing/marbled clay.

If you don’t like the results, go through the following steps again: cut, roll, ball and flatten.

Cut out your shape ( here around the mold ).

coupelles-9

Then place the cut in our mold, which will slightly raise the edges and form a small dish.

I wanted to create two dishes so I did all of this twice.

Put it in the oven.

( Temperature and time according to what is stated on the package of the dough you bought)

coupelles-10

Remove from the oven and wait until it cools before removing the dishes from the molds.

Put varnish on the edges of your cups ( or paint them ).

coupelles-11

Once the varnish dries, your cups are ready to use 🙂

If you want a brighter and/or stronger look, you can varnish them.

You can use these dishes for any small items really.  Jewelry is just one of them!

So, what do you say ?
